docks, warehouse.
Colchester has a few old derelict buildings in it's Hythe region. A lot of them have been demolished to make way for luxury(/student?) flats, but a few remain.
That's the name for Colchester Docks. There is one huge imposing warehouse here - once used for grain or something. It's relatively uninteresting and we couldn't get in
My favourite thing about this place is the totally retro "Colchester Docks" sign on one of the buildings. It reminds me of the 1960's...
The site also has a little gantry thing, presumably once used for loading grain onto boats. The control booth isn't particularly high, but it sort of dangles over the river.
Some signs, warning of the dangers of rabies.
There were a couple of rusty boats nearby, but I think they were being lived in by tramp-cum-sailors.

Hi,
I used to wander around here of a sunday morning to clear my hangover about ten or so years ago when I was a student. If you follow the path along the river you can walk all the way out to Rowhedge for a tasty lunch at the Swan. Sad to see it turned into yuppy flats, but it was derelict even then due to the river silting up.
