The Fletcher Convelescent Home opened on 25 April 1893 and closed 105 years later (in 1998). Since closure the buildings have been subject to numerous planning applications, none of which have been successful. While it’s fate is decided, the building continues to deteriorate.
The building is number 10 in the Victorian Society’s “Top Ten Endangered Buildings” list of 2008.
The Victorians certainly knew how to build evil-looking buildings. I wouldn’t fancy hanging around here on a dark stormy night.
The corridors were decaying beautifully. There was paint-peel aplenty.
The rooms were pretty stripped out and vandalised. It seems as if all the fittings were moved into two rooms…
Some obligatory moody bathroom shots…

Having just been directed to your site with reference to Willington Power Station, discoverting this and all the other wonderfully derelict sites, stems very interesting reading. Thanks
Have been there on a dark stormy night looks even more evil with thunder and lighting crashing over it!!!!
went here last night very intresting place, but was hopeing for paranormal acctivity, the long eared batts made me jump thas about it ,
Took the kids up there this week to try and scare them a bit! Its where their great grandparents died and their Nan (also dead) worked, but they weren’t scared one bit! Bloody modern generation – desensitised!! Sad to say its a bit bleak round there, and signs of heroin addicts round the back on the sort of tiled patio area.Planning permission for it to be converted into houses and flats has been passed but it is being held up because the council want some to be Affordable Housing!!Ahh well!
Went here on Monday. Very windy; rattled the remaining blinds about quite a bit ! Beautiful old building, some gorgeous archways, etc. Much bigger inside than we first thought too…..quite disorientating in the semi-dark….(forgot the head torches !)
These are some great photos! Im currently doing a photography project on abandoned place and ive already been to the Hales Hospital, however i really would love to go here, what is the address i need to find it?? would be much appreciated! Also is it easy to get inside….thanks!

I keep being told it’s easy… but everywhere seems to be boarded up.
