Mansfield General Hospital closed during the 1990s. It was bought by a local businessman who intends to do something with the site, but hasn’t yet. The hospital is also situated bang in the middle of a housing estate – the local residents are not pleased with the eyesore. And don’t like strangers poking around in their area…
The whole explore was quite “tense”. Two of our group got busted by security and told us they were inside looking for us. So we had a very quick look round and made a swift exit! Thus, not many photos of the rather peely interior…

Me and a friend got into the actual yard a few years back. It was a great deal of effort (and a bad choice) to go under the four or so fences around the front (we didn’t know any other way), and as soon as we were on the yard, this security guy and his very scary German Shephard busted us. He was actually pretty pleasant, although I don’t know if that was due to us being students. He mentioned that a lot of students had tried to get in before.
my wife was a nurse there in the 80s it was a s**t hole then
I remember going to this hospital when I was little.. I fell and hit the concrete door step, knocking some of my teeth out while I was at it! I’d have either been 4 or 5. I remember it quite well and what it looked like back then. Strange the things you remember..
