ROC posts - I've never been to one before, so paid a visit to one of my locals. These were used during the Cold War to report any nuclear bursts and monitor fall out. There were well over 1500 of these in the UK! After the Cold War, the MoD decided that there were no longer needed and closed them all.
It doesn't look much from the outside - just a tiny concrete structure and a ventilation shaft. The raised shed-like building is an "Orlit" - a pre-nuclear aircraft observation post.
You have to climb down 20-or-so feet to get into the post.
When you reach the bottom, you are greeted with the toilet!
This is the main room. Two or three people would observe from in here. They'd also live in there - beds were supplied.
Is an explanation needed?
Varios posters and notices were on the walls...
And that's it. Quite a fascinating little explore, even if it is basically just a room!
