On previous visits to Severalls I always managed to miss some things - like upstairs, cells and the morgue. Today I made another trip there to see these things... with success

Also met up with about 10 other members of 28DL which was quite fun!

Morgue

The morgue was the first stop. No slab or anthing inside, just a fridge with slidey trays.

Water Tower

A trip wouldn't be complete without this!

Does doing it first mean I then have to stop? No...

Admin Block

This has always eluded me. But today I was determined to see inside, and managed to climb in through a little window. Everyone followed. It is pitch black in there - huzzah for torches and ludicrous exposure times.

We also got into the roof area, saw the clock, and got into the tiny little thing at the top.

Tunnel

Had a little wander around in the tunnels too. Just one photo. There are some not-brilliant light-writing photos somewhere...

Fire damaged stuff

Another area that previously eluded me is the burnt out area around the operating theatres. A little climb through a forest later, and we were in. It was quite dark and smokified in there. But pretty much untouched by vandals (fire aside).

We found the "red stairs". It makes a change to see these from somewhere other than the very locked door at the bottom.

More rooms & corridors

Exactly what it says on the tin.

Severalls always manages to surprise me. There was one room that was in pretty much perfect condition. And next door was a totally peely smashed up room. Weird.

One of the rooms had been home to an "artist". Maybe since closure though. There were some pieces of "art".

This was a cool little find. A ton of postcards and christmas cards from the 1960s! We had to arrange them on the mantle piece!

On nearly every set of photos I've seen of Severalls, I have seen this one corridor. I've never seen it myself. Until today. The last corner we turned, and there it was.

Job done. I think I have now seen everything I want to see at Severalls. So this may be my final visit...

Lived nearby. I remember a 'friend' riding his Kawasaki KH250 into the hospital and right through the corridors one night after a party. Perhaps I'm on my own here but people rarely ever called Severalls an 'asylum'. It housed regular surgical wards as well as being a 'mental hospital.

These photos and the explanations are brilliant.

Have you tried watching or maybe posting Urbex videos on youtube? I discovered some when I was bored one night and there's some fatastic footage, especially Danvers State Hospital, where the movie Session 9 was filmed.
