urbex, post-office.
Paid a very quick visit to the old post office in Sheffield one evening. It was built in 1910 as an addition to one built in 1897. It closed in 1999 when a newer one was built nearby and was finally sold for redevelopment in 2006.
It was quite late and I wasn't overly inspired - the place was riddled with asbestos test holes and just lacked any real atmosphere. I think it was also my first proper night-time explore. These factors lead to the few & poor photos.
From the outside it looks rather impressive.
On the external shot, you can see a curved piece on the corner. This housed a rather impressive staircase. You can also see a postbox - this led to an underground chute / sorting area. It's not really underground as the building is built on a slope.
We saw a few rooms - all totally stripped.
Didn't get out on the roof, but got to the top floor.
And that's about it really. We missed a few cool bits, like safes, but never mind.
